I think there is a difference between saying "Oh look there are more Larry games, let's try them." and actually liking the old games once you do try them. So in this case, you are both right. It will draw a few people to old adventure games, and the rest will either try the older games and find them boring, or they won't be inclined to try them at all. The person only has to have those innate qualities which are needed to enjoy adventure games. I enjoy FPS games a lot, and I can still appreciate adventure games. I think that there will be those who have a broad range of tastes too.
Plus we shouldn't forget that with each year the female gamer population is increasing and they are known to enjoy adventure games more often on average
than younger men. Not that women are the target audience of Larry mind you.
So again, you're both right. It will bring a few to the adventure fold, but probably not very many.
