Help getting these games running on your current computer

Has anyone been able to get old Windows games like "Lost Mind of Dr. Brain" to work in full screen?
I've fiddled with the compatability settings and tried setting it to 640x480, but it still runs in a small screen surrounded by black. It otherwise works fine.
I can't afford to shift my screen resolution back and forth because of all the hi-rez programs I regularly use.
Any help you can offer would be most appreciated. Thanks!
